There won't be a mass exodus from the cities, I agree. Rather than nukes, I think our adversaries would use internal means to cripple the infrastructure and cause massive social disaster: hit the electric power grids, water supplies, even biological weapons. This will obscure the source of the attack.

Enemies know any military force against the US will result in a counterattack and then their political and military structure would get wiped out as well.

It does not help that we have millions of people who've just walked into the country over the last four years and we have no idea who they are. It doesn't help that China owns land next to US military bases and we are so dependent on them. They are playing the long game: victory over decades. Getting what they want bit by bit. Their goal is to have enough leverage to force us to acquiesce to their demands without firing a shot. They know the US changes its priorities and attitudes every four or eight years.

If a so called enemy or anyone else with an evil intent against America wanted to create a rapid, devastating and destructive situation, they could move from one state to another in a matter of hours setting fires in remote areas where winds could carry the flames over millions of acres in just a few days. Something as small as a "camp fire" left abandoned would cost nothing and result in billions of dollars in damage not to mention the lives (human & animal) it would consume as well. Hatred can show its face in many ways anymore.

We have been creating a nation of diabetics. Burned into my mind is what I saw at a local Shari's (*) restaurant about 20 years ago: family with parents likely in late 30's, both very overweight (300 lbs?) having breakfast with their two or three young kids, probably 6-10 years old, and the kids have to be from 120 to 150 lbs; they were huge. Worse, after eating their stack of pancakes, they all had cake, pie, ice cream, with lots of whipped cream and chocolate syrup. That's ok once in a while, but it seems they made that a weekly event. Those kids are going to be diabetic before they're 20.

Pills for diabetes can last. But if you need to be on insulin, that needs to be refrigerated in order to last much longer than a few weeks. I don't know if stocking up on riskier over-the-counter insulin or pills is viable.

I don't understand why we've let China be the main source for our antibiotics or other medications. I fully believe the purpose of the Wuhan lab has been to develop specific viruses and antidotes for those viruses such that they can release or threaten to release a virus on the world and only they will have the antidote. I believe they have no qualms about implementing biological warfare. It is astonishing to me that multiple US administrations seem to have done nothing to stop our dependency on medical supplies from outside nations.

It’s sad to see for sure. I’m 66 and just a few years ago I wasn’t diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Thankfully though I take a weekly shot of Mournjaro and I’m losing weight and my diabetes is under control!!! Note though, these types of medications will actually “tell” you what you can and can’t eat 🤣. I’ll let you fill in the blanks here 😏

As far as the Wuhan lab goes, it's not "they" who are developing to hit "us." That's a US funded lab. Let that sink in then roll around in your head why your government would want to pay for something like that to be offshore.

I'm not very concerned about hoards of non-prepper types evacuating the cities. The way things seem to be shaping up in these troubled times the densely populated cities could and most likely be the targets of long range nuclear missiles. Everyone in these targeted cities and major military installations within 50 miles of the impact areas will be dead within a few days. Only a very, very few would ever make it out of the kill zone. Those that might make it out will likely be dead within 30 days from the radiation fall out. If and or when WWIII happens an individual had better be ready to meet his / her maker. That's the most important preparation possible. Albert Einstein once said "I'm not sure how WWIII will be fought, but WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.
Yeah, Global Thermonuclear War solves all kinds of problems for almost everybody, preppers included: "Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye."

To a prepper though, concluding it is inevitable sounds like an excuse for "not doing your homework."

Illegal to do here so naturally they just off shore it to one of the most corrupt, evil and mismanaged countries in the world.
I think it's incredibly xenophobic to refer to China as such. The people are like the people anywhere, just trying to get by. And the people are the country. The government, on the other hand, are a bunch of s**t heads the people don't really elect or trust...also like pretty much anywhere.

LOL...China is a human rights nightmare. They are committing genocide against the Uyghurs Muslims. Their male/female ratio is so out of whack-35 million more mane than women-because they spent several generations enforcing a one child policy. Talk to guys who do business over there and you will see how poorly the average worker does his work. Unless a product is made in a factory supervised by westerners/Europeans, the work is substandard. Look at the cities they build. Their agricultural practices or anything entirely domestic are inferior to a free society's work.

Communism is a blight and destroys everything it touches.

I don't want to sound like a war monger but in my opinion, within the last few days the dooms day clock (as it's called) has move a couple more minutes closer to midnight. The last time a picture of the clock appeared on my computer screen, the minute hand was less than 5 minutes to midnight. There's now all kinds of info on the computer that talks about where the best places to take shelter in event a nuclear blast is observed near enough to be seen from where a person is located. In most cases If a blast is visible the chances of your survival would be practically ZERO. No real point in trying to find a safe shelter in such an event. If a nation who wants what we have here in America bad enough, I'm sure it isn't going to sit around waiting for our economy, society or monetary system to collapse before they try taking what we have.
Better to have your "PREP" supplies laid by safely in your prep location well away from congested, populated areas and military installations and be there when the dooms day clock hits MIDNIGHT.

That Chicken Little clock has been going back and forth for decades.

Although the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists started with good intentions and with actual nuclear scientists, including Einstein, I would say that since at least the mid-1980's it has become a sociopolitical tool with a tenuous basis in reality. To me, its leadership and motives are questionable. California's ex-Governor Jerry Brown has held an executive position with the organization since 2018.

From Wikipedia, this paragraph provides a good summary of criticisms:

"Cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker harshly criticized the Doomsday Clock as a political stunt, pointing to the words of its founder that its purpose was "to preserve civilization by scaring men into rationality". He stated that it is inconsistent and not based on any objective indicators of security, using as an example its being farther from midnight in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis than in the "far calmer 2007". He argued it was another example of humanity's tendency toward historical pessimism, and compared it to other predictions of self-destruction that went unfulfilled."

I'm glad to see at least a few people have read my post. The "dooms day clock" (ddc) aside. I agree that the ddc is just a pile of BS intended to only scare folks anyway. My idea in posting the above was to express my point that the media is currently posting various places to take shelter if a nuclear fire ball is observed within a distance near enough to see it. Anybody within that distance will either be evaporated immediately or couldn't expect to live more than a few days. That's why I mentioned to survive an initial rocket exchange of WWIII, a serious prepper should have his / her prep. supplies well within their prep. location many many miles away from densely populated areas and major military bases, ideally with some amount of ground cover overhead, at least a few feet. If you're not there before the rockets fly, you'll never make it there.
I'm not denying the US economy and society in general is headed straight for collapse well within my lifetime. But any preps. I'm making now is not intended for such circumstances that might take a few months or a year to happen. With war talk and fallout shelters topics of everyday expression, my first preparation is to be sure I'm ready to meet my maker. Secondly, to have food water and other life sustaining necessities In event I survive a coming nuclear exchange. I've has my say for what it's worth in this forum. Each one of us has to make their decisions based on their mind set.

I don't need to "talk to guys" I've been. Multiple times. Like I said, the party sucks. The people are people. You're conflating the 2. It's an overly simplistic and myopic way to view the world and your fellow human, and it's sad.

A Carrington Event such as we missed by weeks in 2012, or one or more EMP's could collapse the North American grid. Even North Korea has the means to detonate such a device over N.A. now. The grid is not hardened, the hardware is mostly made in Asia, and rebuilding it would take years. The decent and the helpless will die when their food or meds runs out. The ruthless will steal what they can for as long as they can, then turn on each other, then turn cannibal. Those fit enough and who have armed themselves will flood out of the cities intent on taking whatever they can from whoever they can. People living on farms no matter how well armed won't have much chance against groups of armed marauders, unless they've built a minor fortress. Who stands sentry in a family of four? How many casualties can you take and still defend the home? Groups like the Amish or Mennonites would have a chance, but the marauders won't all be incompetent wackos - there will be plenty of trained and skilled people among them whose narcissistic and psychopathic tendencies will get free reign in such a situation, some "preppers" among them. If the grid collapse is confined to North America, the question is how long the rest of the world would wait before becoming involved, who would take charge and what their agendas would be? Whoever got here furstest with the mostest would probably be the new bosses, but they might just wait a few months for the fires to clear the ground so to speak. The oceans are still the best refuge. ;)

What is sad is that a guy comes into a thread just to insult people.

China sucks. Go pick an argument somewhere else.

It is indeed very sad that you chose to do that. You should try not insulting an entire nation of people with generalizations.
I guess I missed whatever was said that "insulted an entire nation of people" and who ever said it. Would someone please tell me what and who and tell me if it was ME that said it. If it was me, please accept my humble apologies.

Naw man it was me. I said China is ''one of the most corrupt, evil and mismanaged countries in the world'' because it is. But somehow I insulted an entire nation of people w/o ever actually mentioning the people. I mean they did export covid to the world and denied it, are trying to genocide a people group based on religion, forced the death of unknown numbers of girl babies, hacked into all manor of US businesses stealing intellectual property and other data, bribed US politicians etc. They are the greatest threat to freedom in the world today. Russia is a paper tiger. China is the real threat.

Glad to hear it wasn't my mouth (or key board from which it came) . But I'll have to agree with you that the people who have run the Chinese government for the last 80+ years will have MUCH to answer for when they stand before the great White Throne Judgement Seat and sentences are handed out. There isn't much that can be done right now for what's happened in China during our lifetime but there is hell-to-pay coming.
