call them and ask "WTF" parts in stock and not shipped ?

i have never seen this from them and i am a dealer with them.

 

I order quite a bit from them, but if I really want just one item, I order it separetly. For example I wanted some small ar parts and a cheap holster. The holster is out of stock, and whole order is held although it's the ar parts I want.

 

Never Had that happen, but never ordered anything that was out of stock.

 

I stopped buying from them when they pulled a Hipoint, Bill Ruger, Micheal Bloomberg... and declared they would no longer sell standard capacity magazines.

So I can’t say if this is now normal, but it wasn’t in the past.

 

I've had minimal dealings with them.
Intentionally so.
I've theoretically had the target knobs for the sight I bought from them (which was "in Stock") at the same time, "back ordered for 10~15 days" for several years now.

 

I've been treated well by Opticsplanet but never say never cause my order of carbide expander units in 308 and 6.5 was on back order 3 weeks, then arrived and they sent two 6.5 units and I can't get them on phone to sort this out. Thus...not satisfied with them and suspect they've outgrown their staffs ability to serve customers attentively.

I could have ordered from Brownells ...with their slow shipping they'd still be faster. I should say glacial speed since that is as fast as Brownells free shipping truly is.

 

i also have had issues on ship times from them.theyll show in stock then change the eta once ordered.theyve done this to me on 2 orders now so ive decided best to get somewhere else.not sure what changed with them.never used to be that way

 

Well, checking on some orders I have been receiving (orders from last weekend (not just gun stuff)), seems I have an Opticsplanet order for a .45 CMMG barrel and matching RDB BCG that is expecting to ship in 25-30 days or so.......

 

I find them to be overpriced most times regardless of what I'm comparing...Actually use them as a high price point when searching for items

I.E. Anything they sell could be found elsewhere for less

 

I have bought a couple items from them in the past with no undue shipping wait. 5-7 weeks??? That sounds like the 1970's when everything said to allow 8-10 weeks for delivery!

I've ordered a few times from Optics Planet. They do a lot of drop shipping (i.e. taking an order and then having it sent direct from the manufacturer or distributor). That's OK or not depending on whether the manufacturer actually has the item in stock. Last time I ordered from them it was some AR parts and tools; the order took a couple of months despite their initial claim that they would ship within 5 days. I haven't had a lot to do with them since and I don't trust them much.

 

Everything came in this week so I’m happy. I guess they are ok if you aren’t in dire need of an item and are willing to save a few bucks. I’m not one to get excited about slow shipping, I just wondered if this was normal. My gues is they have limited items in stock and depend upon drop shipments.

barrel

I ordered a barrel from them, and was informed they could not ship to a PO box. If I list my po box second on my shipping address, the post office returns the package as undeliverable. The second line of my shipping address is my physical address, but that couldn't work. I explained that although I have lived at one address for 38 years, I had never received mail at that address. After a week of hassle, I changed my account info to show only my physical address. Order shipped FedEx. When it arrived in my town, they put it in the post office, where I picked it up! Go figger?

 

last 5 orders in the past two years: only ONE item (not an order) shipped right away, rest were 'suddenly backordered' and subsequently had to be canceled all together. Last order for Sig556 springs was less then a month ago. I am done with OP - not worth the hassle or the runaround. Its a joke now, basically a drop-ship outfit.

 

I've ordered two red dot sights from them in the last month or so and had both in less than five working days, go figure.
