An all matching 1916/1920 Danzig G98M that was reworked by Mauser Oberndorf between 1938-1941.

This all matching rifle is a WWI production 1916 Danzig Gewehr 98 that was retained postwar and 1920 Weimar property marked. It was then arsenaled during the interwar period, and upgraded to G98M spec with an S/42K rear ladder sight. Additionally, it was rebuilt during the WWII period by the National Socialists. It feature a regiment marking to the 9th Company of infantry regiment no. 5, weapon number 18. It is full of various markings, and features a really nice, relatively complicated stock repair. I did not pull the action out of the stock for this sale, but I will for any serious buyer: It features many different proofs and toolhouse markings. The rifle was discussed on this thread here: (1916 Danzig, 1920 Weimar, WWII Re-Work)

This rifle wears an original leather sling, as well as a nicely paired 98/05 WWI "Butcher Blade" bayonet that is also 1920 property stamped. Hammesfahr delivered the blade blank, Schubert und Salzer was the finisher. Unit on frog could be S. Pionier Batallion Abt. IV. -roman numeral. Potential Bavarian scabbard. The bayonet was discussed on this thread here: (Bayonet 9 ID)
