1 year ago a Man was caught with massive hidden battlefield finds and skulls/human remains in sevastopol, crimea. Many of which he was restoring. Unfortunately he was sent to prison. Can you really blame him? Well maybe for keeping the human remains. He said he was going to bury them at a military cemetary tho. He just hadnt gotten around to it yet lol. The laws apparently are the same in the US. Do not keep machine guns, rifles, and skulls u find while metal detecting! Unless theyre just extremely damages barrels or parts.

Yea thats true i wondered about that. He had about 35 rifles and machine guns. I guess he was a collector and was restoring them. It says some were completely restored. U can see he has worse condition ones in the video that arent repaired. I suppose some of them might not have been dug up and were purchased, illegally. But he dies have a really large anti tank gun or something that looks in really rough shape amung other things, the skulls as well. Again with this story i couldnt really find much info.

There ar several videos on YouTube right now of this kind of thing.
Fascinating to watch, (other than the creepy disturbing the grave stuff), finding old weapons and ordnance still there. Old German military positions that have been abandoned and forgotten for 80 years and the soldiers that manned them.
I'll put up some links in another thread.
(Edited) The links I posted on this board were moved to The Military History board, for some reason. Even though it's the exact same people in the video above, WWII Metal Detecting,
and is on topic with this thread.

Depending on ground conditions, things can be preserved so well it beggars belief. In Karelia there are digs that uncover perfectly preserved bodies. They have intact eyes, faces and organs (including brains). The contents of their wallets are readable. Take a look if you have the stomach for it: Leipäsuo - Keskustelua asehistoriasta ja militariasta

Wow that is insane. Too bad all the comments and stuff are in russian. Yea that is weird they moved ur links. Maybe i shouldve posted this in that forum as well? I cant believe they leave so much stuff behind and it becomes forgotten. That stuff is increadibly well presserved tho.

Lots of these dig sites have been recorded and shown for quite a while. Quite a few internet sites easily found.
Most cases, human remains are reported and recovered by authorities.
Recently, there was an extensive piece on a big German recovery in Russia where they were expanding an existing cemetery. There had been a large field hospital there. The remains were being id'd as well as possible and dealt with by their system. Recovery of remains, not necessarily associated with artifact digging, goes on worldwide. A few years ago, a guy from my rural area was recovered with others from a crash site on "The Hump" There is a living sister and other relatives here who appreciated that.
