Can we have turd alerts? There are a couple snipers on a well known auction. Either turds or I am an idiot......... Which could be the case. Makes more wanna scream.

It has been a while since I watched sniper or Faux sniper auctions. And unfortunately there are a lot of buyers that prefer the pretty, all stamped & matching fake turd snipers to genuine ones. A lot of time the Faux will command higher dollars. Go figure!

The worst part of it is that one of them is a 5 line Tula with a PU scope.

Oh they probably weren't made as fake snipers they were restored by some of your now moving on fellow collectors who "restored" them to fix their need for a sniper and now have sold them to a new owner who is calling them real now. Only to suck in some poor fool with little knowledge but money. Sure keep encouraging everyone who wants to fake one to prove he can and increase his ego. Dang it are you blind and dumb to what happens or what? I have bought 4 or 5 of these just to take them apart for parts to keep them off the market and had a good friend nailed for $700 on one. Think real hard about making one (I did maybe 20 years ago) and for heavens sake don't encourage anyone to make one cause this is exactly what happens. By the way my creation is apart and gone years ago and if you have one mark it maybe under the butt plate as a repro. This saves new collectors from maybe being burned down the road somewhere. Bill

Those who don't have a few hours (or even minutes these days) to do a little research will continue to get burned whether or not I rescope an ex-sniper, and if I want to have a shooter that can be used without wearing out a more collectible piece, trying to protect them from themselves isn't a huge concern of mine.

There are all kinds of "East German Blondes", "SS issue Mausers with certificates of authenticity", et cetera and ad nauseum for those who can't be bothered to do a little research to impale themselves on, so they might consider doing a little reading.

One of my favorite Turds over the last 6 months was the guy who posted a CAI scoped Tikka 91/30 as a legit PU sniper. When someone bid it up to $900.00 and it still didn't hit reserve I just shook my head; buyer bidding a CAI fake up to $900.00 and the seller not selling it at $900.00!:?

There's one guy who has a habit of listing resnipered exes (sometimes before the auction where he bought them as ex-snipers have even fallen off the history) as "original snipers". And I've seen them bid up to like $1100 dollars and relisted because they didn't even hit reserve at that price. :barf:

Caveat emptor.
