Thoughts on a Mix-matched Chinese Type 24

Looking at a mixed Type 24. The finish is a bit rough (50-60%), but what makes it unique (to me) is that the action is in a Chinese contract VZ.24 stock. The stock is also stamped “Practice” - although I have no idea if that was before or after the action was swapped.

If I can get it for under $300, what’s the collective thought? I kind of like the unique aspect of the VZ stock (and I have a weakness for VZ’s…I have three of them!), but I don’t want to do anything stupid.

Thanks for any input!!

My general rule is that any mauser in original condition under $300 is worth consideration. If it were me, I would buy it because I am not sure you would come across it again. Anything above $300 deserves more research. Chinese rifles are usually described as rough but that shouldn't be a distractor as they are very unique. (I love the stock markings) My two cents....

I ended up getting it for $260, so I’m happy with that. I think it’s an interesting example!
