I am interested in SKS accuracy between both guns and ammo. I know there are a lot of purists that leave their guns alone and I have a few of those as well. However if you are interested in the SKS as a brush gun / iron sights / under 100 yards gun it needs some tuning in my experience and opinion.
I view the SKS as a 50 - 100 yard gun mostly because of its iron sights. My most accurate gun I have played with is a Chinese SKS with a Kivaari trigger job, a Williams Firesight front post and a Tech Sights rear peep. I can consistantly get a three inch group at 50 yards, which seems pretty accurate, but not really accurate enough. I own a bunch of SKS's including several that I have not shot. I would like to see a 1 to 1.5 inch group at 50 yards, and a 2 to 3 inch group at 100 yards. Before sinking some more $$$ into triggers and sights I want to figure out what is the best candidate for accurizing of my group.
To test, I shoot from a rest and I have been using S&B soft points for my hunting gun.
Show us what you've got and how you have accurized your SKS.
I am going to the Range this Wednesday before heading to a Friday hunt and I will post up some pics...
