Google Jelly Bryce, quickdraw is possible with most handguns.

 

I will Google Jelly Bryce but I am familiar with him as an Oklahoma lawman. I did find a link that said the "Quickdraw" was another name for a Colt SAA Civilian model. Does this sound accurate?

 

only thing I have heard and seen is a taller hammer spur for quickdraw,

don't know of a model of the SAA called Quickdraw,

 

I've seen and made a few quick draw holsters but never heard of a SAA quickdraw model, a term that has hung around since the old Tom Mix days???

 

I was researching guns that were used in movies and came by info on the movie Tombstone. The pistols used by Doc Holliday are listed as a Colt Lightning in .38 Long Colt and a Colt SAA Quickdraw in .45 Long Colt. I wasn’t familiar with the term either but found the one website that offered the idea that it’s another name for the Civilian Model. Perhaps it is a reference to the holster and if that’s the case the article is at best misleading and at worse inaccurate.

 

The final word on the guns in the movie Tombstone is a book by Peter Sherayko. He played Texas Jack, was the armorer and headed up a group of extras that hang together and do historic movies. Book list almost every gun that was used, original or repro, why a gun was carried by whom and what they had to do to get the originals up and running. I have the feeling that the Quickdraw is a name given a model by a repro company. I have the book but it is 8 hours away at home while I'm on a project site.
