Hi, was in a local sporting goods store the other day checking out their ammo selection (better than some), and saw that they had 20 rd. boxes of POF .308 ammo for sale at $8.99 per box. Does anyone have some experieince with this ammo? As I recall it was 1980's (early 80's) production- I'll assume it's berdan primed and corrosive, but if it's not click-bang like the POF .303 British can be, then I'd consider picking some up for the bolt guns (and save the "good stuff" for the M1A). Any thoughts are appreciated- thanks!

I forgot to mention that we bought 120million rounds of the stuff from Pakistan to replace all the ammunition we had fired off to recapture the Falklands after the Argentinian Invasion of 1982.

It was, without doubt, the crappiest stuff that ever went from one end of a barrel to the other - although it has to be said that often it didn't make it out of the muzzle.

My experience is therefore somewhat different to you buying a few rounds to plotz off down the range. Some if it may have been good, as the other poster notes, but with little exception, they must have sold all the crap to us.

'That's the last time we give 'em independence', my boss said at the time.

My shooting buddies and I went through about 6000rds of this from Centurys import a few years ago. Not target or "match" grade ammo, but for plinking it was fine. No problems noted in any of it.
