Does Gunbroker allow you to choose who can bid on your auctions based on their ratings? I know Ebay does, and the option has saved me from having to deal with these problem bidders/buyers.

Yes but unsure how exactly it works. I do know sellers can block bidders both before and after they place a bid. Not sure if the bid block prevents them from making additional bids beyond the initial one and/or prevents any communication thereafter. Both Gunbroker and our own trader could benefit greatly by requiring an minimum of 25 -50 posts before a buyer (or seller) can use them. Gunbroker has a forum as well. Ultimately someone will offer a 3rd party vetting system to prequalify buyer and sellers, If theres a dollar to be made, someone will step up. Danger of that is if a disgruntled person adds your name you may have no recourse.

yall must deal in some wild and crazy stuff,

I have been on gunbroker 15 yrs or so, and have had a few deadbeats, but no enough to make me get all worked up over it,

just block them, relist , and file for credit,

admittedly, the file for credit part is a bit of a PITA, but if you are diligent, it works

Losing $ on credits seems the only thing that gets GBs attention. They do get to keep the $ interest free from time od sale to time of credit issue which is like 30 days+. If you add it all up it a huge amount.

I had a dead beat, and sold the item off of gunbroker after I filed the non paying bidder,
GB would not give me credit because I did not relist,

so I told my self, next time I will just relist, stupid high price, get my credit, and then end the auction,,,
if I sell it off gunbroker

Wise advice. Those unfamiliar with the ins and out of GB might benefit from paying attention to this thread. Maybe Gb should too.

If you had no contact from buyer #1 in 4 days post auction end?...you are not obligated to sell him the rifle.

NPB the first guy and Sell to #2 or, if no payment from him?..NPB him and list a third time.

Part of my problem is I am hoping to take advantage of the tax season when people have that extra money to buy stuff. I did receive a USPS money order today from the first buyer. I also had two people email me with intent to buy prior to this 2nd potential dead beat "buying" my re-listed rifle (one person was local). What should have been a simple transaction is becoming a headache due to people not communicatung (both buyers and Gunbroker). I wanted to use the proceed of this sale to pay off other purchases and to free up money for some other things. I don't make a lot of money. So, when I buy something new, I usually have to sell something I'm not as attached to (and it's getting harder as most of the stuff I have is stuff I really like).

I filed a NPB on the first bidder. It is listed a "being processed" with regards to my credit request (this may be a little incorrect as I am currently using my phone, I can state ut more correctly when I get home and view it on my PC). On the 2nd bidder, I don't think the time period has passed to file a NPB complaint. So, no, I haven't filed one on the 2nd bidder yet. But, I plan on doing it. I may just say to hell with everything and ship to the first buyer and not pay the second fee. If Gunbroker cancels my account, oh well. They don't respond to any questions and required me to relist the rifle. All of this B.S. ticks me off. On Ebay, I cannot sell something for a month if somebody doesn't pay (not a big help when I need the money). Not much I can do when none of the parties involved will respond to me.

Pull the gun off GB, then sell on consignment at your local gun store, or place an ad on the local bulletin board at your supermarket or an ad in the local community paper or something like that. Guarantee you will sell the gun faster and with alot less hassle.....Make it where they have to come to you in person to make the deal. Less chance of scams this way.

I don't get worked up either . You have to start the process in a certain time limit or you won't get it.
I relist quickly unless there's a reason not to.
I don't worry with the feedback since it's not required unless the buyer is a dik.
I got a canadian I'm going to cause he had a girl fit after the ad was self explanatory.
I just hate they went up to 6% fee.

Here is a screenshot of the Gunbroker page on the left. The first "buyer" sent me an email this evening, his message is on the right of the screenshot. Again, this person cannot speak English.

The response was from "Yu Wang".

Come on folks, it's some college dork playing a silly one on you- "You Rang?"

Carry out the Non-Paying Bidder formalities, and you will get the selling fee back next month.

Ok, I did not forget about this thread. I was just waiting until everything worked out. GunBroker finally did respond to my questions. Nothing really important to note during my conversation with them, just stating that they did respond to my emails, but it took a little more that a week to receive a response. The original buyer, Yu Wang, did send me a legitimate USPS Money order for the full amount. I contacted his FFL and received a signed copy of their FFL for my records (I have an FFL03 and I supplied a signed copy of my FFL to them). I have not heard any complaints from their FFL, so I assume everything went well with the transfer. I did have to re-list my rifle a 3rd time in order to receive seller's fee credit for the 2nd "sale" of the rifle. This time, I listed it at a ridiculously high price. I received no bids, but did receive one inquiry to see if my price was correct. Today, GunBroker sent an email stating that I will receive credit for the 2nd "sale" of the rifle. They also deleted the listing. I still never heard a word from the 2nd "buyer". Both the first buyer and the second "buyer's" accounts seem to be closed on GunBroker. Very odd transaction. But, everything worked out.
:crossfingers:

The fees of Gunbroker and the non-existent seller support has driven me away from GB.

While Auction Arms gets less traffic it seems to be better as far as the number of scammers.

I did recently sell my Farmers Friend on there.
Being such a rare piece I didn’t want to risk not using a reserve.
I was worried it might get lost in the sea of SKS listings and I’d get skunked.
So it cost me $30 upfront just for the reserve fee.
The final fee total for a $1400 sale was $95.
Then, it was my fault, I had to eat $45 in shipping.
And on top the buyer decided my clearly spelled out instructions weren’t to his dealers liking so this caused me multiple trips to my FFL.

I also sold an Enfield at the same time, it was another hassle when the buyer couldn’t understand Postal Money Order...

Just too much hassle.

I’m looking to fund another purchase and have dug out a non refurb Russian, two P14’s, a US1917 Enfield and two South American Mausers and I thought about it today and I’m going to skip the online auction stuff and just go with consignment at a local shop.
It will take longer and I might have to take less but Gunbroker is just too greedy for me now.

I just had my first deadbeat buyer so I googled about it and found your post.
"Yu Wang" is actually quite a normal Chinese name. In many states, foreigners with a hunting license(after required class/training) can buy firearms, plus there are foreign permanent residents, and even a lot of naturalized citizens who speak broken English. But it's not an excuse for him to "forget" his gun purchase and pay you. Glad shits worked out for you in the end. It's funny that my buddy has almost the same name and he had been buying guns with his hunting license when he was an international student in college.

Before finding your post, I was just imagining about what if the same scenario happens to me that the first buyer contacts back after GB threatens to suspend his account but the relist has already been sold, but I was selling bulk ammo and still had another bulk as the backup in case that happens. Also the relist with sky high price is a great idea lol.

Happy it worked out. Non paying bidder? I had one. I reported him to GB and found they were pretty much no help. I now, when selling, put in my description that buyers must have had at least two stars to bid on my auctions. Zero rating? No bid

I would wait for payment from the 2nd buyer. If he is legit and pays promptly, I would ship his firearm.

I would notify Wang his opportunity was lost due to failure to send payment on time and lack of communication prior to your relisting. Once an item is relisted the first sale was (by definition of relisted) CANCELLED. Wang is out of the picture.

I may have missed a detail here, but; Wang should have been told the deal was off due to non payment. I think he was. Anyway, return the check and complete the legit 2nd sale.
