I've received 20 rounds for testing, I'll try 10 in the 13 and 10 in the 18 sometime next week. I have a CT scan on my back tomorrow then a pain test Tuesday. If all goes well I'll shoot no later than Wed. (if it doesn't Roy will report my demise) and we will be ready to sell to you that are interested. As I understand it they will be sold in lots of 10 or 15? We have ordered 100 with Roy supplying much of the brass. The initial price will be somewhere between $25 and $50 (?), but the cases can be returned for reloaded much cheaper. Roy, will you please add what you know to this and to whom and how much do I send the $$$s? Roy is looking into acquiring the equipment to load the 8mm Murata cartridges.

I'll report here on the success of the firing test and the purchase info will be in the Trader Forum.

There are other cases, 11mm Gras and 32 gauge brass shotgun case.
Caution, I've never seen 11mm Gras brass offered for sale, and 32 gauge brass is as hard to find as the 348 Winchester brass.

I did obtain some CBC 32 gauge boxer primed brass, and reformed them to 11mm Murata.
The problem is the small rim on said cases, of which not one of my three Murata's extractors would grab onto.
They fired fine, but fired case extraction was via a cleaning rod run down the bore from the muzzle.

I believe a larger rim could be lath turned and soldered onto the 32 gauge shotshell.

Finally, yes the 348 Winchester case does end up being about 3/16 of an inch short, but they still fire fine.
The only issue is to make sure you really clean out the neck of the camber.
It is much like shooting 38 Special in a 357 Mag chamber.

Below is an email I received in response to my quest for 11mm Murata brass -

Dear Mr. Thomas,
Thank-you for the quick reply to the GB Post of this Morning(Aussie Time.).

I have looked at all the Possible cases to use, and have come downon the 50/90 Sharps case by Starline; the Basic measurements are veryclose, and I can Machine the "Mauser A" head easily;

Forming up will not be a Problem either, and the Cases will beproperly Neck and Shoulder Annealed in our Semi-Auto annealing machine.

Going on Starline's US Bulk prices, I could probably do them forUS $2,00 to $2,50 a Piece,( Empty Un-primed) plus Postage. ( Our AussieDollar is going South fast.)

I will be talking to my Engraver/Toolmaker today, to see ifwe can also make a Bunter to give the correct Japanese Kanji (Mu) and the(actual) Imperial Era, plus our ID. and Calibre.

As to Pricing, Min. Lots 50 cases (50 round Tray Pack), and Lotsof 500 and 1,000 for further distribution ("Group-Buys and Dealers")and we can discount AND cover the Air Mail.

Payment on Invoice WHEN shells are ready; they go in theMail, as soon as Bank or PayPal confirms Funds.

I have just spoken with my Starline Importer here in Aussie, andshe says (1) she has no 50/90 Sharps in stock (no one ever asked) and(2) her next order to Starline will be in about 4-5 Months; also (3)Starline has a Minimum Bulk Order of 5,000 cases: Yes, I can handle thatMany, for a Lot of Cases (11mm Gras, and other similar cases with a Big rim andhead, as well as 50/90 itself)).

So that is the situation.

If you can scare up potential Customers for the 11x60 Murata, Ican move ahead on the Head-stamp Bunter and Forming Dies. I use RCBSalmost exclusively for all my Case Forming---, both Personal and Commercial,and all Trimming, Rim & Groove Turning, Neck reaming isLathe-done and all formed cases are Annealed.

I have only seen Muratas in a Chinese Museum ( Beijing) and at theYasukuni Shrine in Tokyo. They are not a even rare item in Australia ( ie,un-obtainium).

Any of you Murata shooters out there want to get in on this? Lets talk. Bob Thomas mrrctjr@yahoo.com

Further on the Offer to make Murata shells from 50/90 Sharps, just heard that the minimum Starline Order for shipment is 3,500 cases...my Importer is going to make up an Interim order which can go "Pallet size" with other cases, and be shipped easily as LCL.

One BAD thing has Happened to me ( and our US customers)...two weeks ago, I had a Parcel rejected by Aussie "Customs" because the shells ("Gun Shells"...Mauser 71, Turk 87 etc) were a Prohibited import into the US.

Any US buyer will have to have an ATFE Form 6A ( import of Ammunition /Components) and I will have to get a DECO (Defence Export Control Office) Permit as well, to Clear Both Aussie and US Customs. These nonsenses are sent to try our Patience...

So a group BUY is the Best way...One Parcel, One set of Papers, One Headache...

As to the "headstamp", I have already designed a Proper Japanese Kanji marking, and have sourced a Japanese Maker of Kanji metal stamps, who can do the complete Headstamp Bunter for us.

Proposed HS is : Te Mu (12 o'clock); 28 ( Imperial Era Year==2016--3 o'clock): V.C. Makers/Inspectors ( me and my toolmaker at 6 o'clock) and He-i Se-i ( Imperial Era Name for current Emperor.)

Te Mu is short for Teppo Murata (Gun Murata).

I have taken care to place the Imperial era titles in the Japanese accepted manner. If anybody has any criticism or comment, feel free to reply here or by PM, or direct to me at av_ballistics@hotmail.com, or info@avballistics.com.au

No news, except that it will be next year before I get any Starline 50/90 cases, and design the Modifications I have to do to them to get as close as Possible to a 11mm Murata Case.

A few other GB aficionados have contacted me directly. Don't worry. all the contacts go on file, so when everything is ready to roll, I can advise.

As with most custom products, it will take time ( I am currently involved with the pre-planning of Production of Vetterli and Beaumont Vitali Clips ( wood and steel composites) for the like named rifles...talk of complicated Cabinet Making...)
