Beautiful collection so far!

I somewhat regret not capitalizing on this when I was in Calgary, as a military surplus store had a bin that was full of Mosin-Nagant socket bayonets for $40/each. I know some collectors seek to own one of every variant and one of every known maker out there.

 

I'm skeptical of the Chatellerault as this example is 45°. Any thoughts?

Is not Chatellerault production here, the form of digits and position of their contract is different. When i am correct they switched from 90 grad angle directly to 30 in socket.

Very cool. I just picked up a Tula socket bayonet, still covered in cosmo. I don’t even have an M91 to put it on, but soon!

 

From russian literature there should be 90, 45 and 30 angled recess in socket, some are certainly already romanian refurbishments. The last one bayonet is a fencing exercise piece. Nice collection.

 

The sport fencing bayonet was made by Dinamo D, LZS - Leningradskij Zavod Sportinventara made in reality postwar, the date is not visible here as it was not fully stamped. Source book of Barsukov about Mosin91.

 

The link of deciphering is wrong, is not WW1 production, this is locking system of M91/30 not old M91, and the production of the fencing training items run into 1970ies.

This is an interesting thread; haven't known much about Soviet bayonets for the M-91/30. I have a 91/30 that is all matching numbers including a number match bayonet. Is that common to have the bayonet matched with the rifle? Since my rifle is dated 1929 I find it odd that the bayonet still matches after all these years.

 

The bayonet and rifle were most likely matched during refurbishment.

 

Its normal the bayonet have a gun serial on blade stamped, here as the rifle is older as the model M91/30 is more real the piece was serialed after refurbish. I assume there is a 5 point star for Tula production on bayonet socket and the rifle is Izhewsk.
