Some are some are not, check the barrel for locking lugs on the top if there it is a locked breech...smooth it is blowback.

Literally a blowback, like a Hi Point.
We had a recent thread discussing them when some surplus Llamas hit the market.
Llama made both in the 80s to save money/offer a cheaper offering.
Some say the recoil isn't that bad since the gun came it at almost 40 oz.

Since both pictured barrels have a swinging link, I suspect that they are both locked breech.
The one with no lug simply uses the entire chamber area as one big lug.

 

Bill You were not supposed to see that as the smooth one does actually lock on the front of the chamber...it was the only smooth barrel I could find without tearing a pistol down....I b bad Come to think of it I got that barrel from you !
