Mine looks exactly the same way when in that position.

 

I think it has something to do with the new Woodstock causing something to catch on the inside so that the follower will not push back inside correctly. I’m spending some more time studying it.

 

I did some work on the bore hole tube where the metal follower the interfaces with it to minimize any wood edges to catch the follower and got it working. The tube hole is drilled deep enough I can fit four rounds in the tube and one in the lifter for a legal hunting load out of five rounds. Also my typical number of shots for testing groups.

 

Next I’ll start laying on linseed oil. This stock has some nice tiger striping in the grain as well.

 

Did you make the new forend yourself or is there someone out there making for sale?

 

Fox militaria in Poland. Excellent work. Quote the back log though. I waited a year for bout my Lebel and G43 stocks. The first handguard had issues. He had this new one as an extra. A friend was visiting Poland and hams delivered it to me when he returned to the states. He fit it diagonally in his luggage.
