Square mounts were used until the end of the war. The idea that square is only early is not true. Although it does appear that rounded mounts came later.

 

First of all, the rifle has a desirable "panel cut" receiver....As for scope/mounts, these could have been mated to any time during or after the war..Being they don't match anyway, it's really a moot point....Is the stock serial numbered as Walther discontinued doing this late in 1944....Bodes

War time snipers had their mounts numbered to match. Some still exist today. This is the only way to authenticate a legit K43 sniper.
