How really effective was this rifle? Can 7.62x39 round even be consistent at the extended ranges? Shouldn't AK just "die" after 300yds?
Iraqi Tabuk starts against El Presidente surrounded by the bodyguards, and things are going fast from there! Ha!

Here’s a nice example of the Iraqi original scope with 7.62x39 BDC.

I’ve handled a few of these scopes and my take on it is they had Zrak produce a run of them cammed in 54r for the Al Kadesiah and then in Iraq changed some to x39 for the Tabuk. I’m not aware that Iraq ever had an optical grinding or coating industry domestically but if someone knows that they could have made these optics in Iraq I’m interested in details.

Hey Rob, First of all I wanna let you know my wife get's a kick out of hearing your videos I sometimes watch on weekend mornings. Great info. Appreciate all you do. She really wants to see Ula (spelling) more than hearing just an abrupt "okay, lets go" as you line up the next shots.

Anyway, I just stumbled onto your video above as I'm researching/considering having the TRA guys build me up a Tabuk Sniper out of an M70B1 kit I found in the closet. Questions I posed to the hive: M70B1 Kit: To Tabuk or not to Tabuk (Sniper)

Couple/few questions:

  • You mentioned thanks to Matt for, I guess, providing the rifle. Was this a TRA build ?
  • Why all the tape? For effect?
  • Is that a ZRAK ONM76 scope? Was it cam'd for x39? Or are you working on 8mm turrets?
  • Eye relief looks brutally far back
  • I think you mentioned using off the shelf Barnaul ?

Thanks

Link didn't make it.

Or did you mean Rob's video?

GS445, I am the Matt he is referring to. I sold him that rifle. And yes I have Two River Arms build it. It is a very tough build to get down now because they have a wait time of about 1 year. Also, I got very lucky and found a barrel. No one is making the barrels anymore. I asked Two Rivers to battle wear it for me so it didn't look brand new. The eye relief was fine. Was a very fun rifle to shot.

I never knew of this channel, watched a couple videos seems interesting.

Can anyone give me background on this guy, or if he has a video saying hay this is me. It does not seem like the type of videos a specific idiot did with a fake accent years ago, this guy seems "real" at least to me. And quite a bit more responsible to say the least.

good videos. Guess this is what I get for drifting away from youtube.

Rob Ski is a member here. He started this thread - Rob Ski

His Youtube channel is - https://www.youtube.com/user/AkOperatorsUnion and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTpBCmJbM14WE3BLXf9cFcw

Here's a bio - On Target Interview: Rob Ski--Founder AK Operators Union Local 47-74--Part 1 | Hawaii Reporter part 2 - On Target Interview: Rob Ski--Founder AK Operators Union Local 47-74--Part II | Hawaii Reporter

Rob's accent is real. He knows what he's talking about. The other guy was FPSRussia, and he was a fake.

Rob is my go-to for reviews - "enough of the bulls**t!"

Haven't see those Bio videos yet (THANK YOU) but I first ran into Robs videos via that AK Operators Union stuff. I think he was in Polish military forces and may have a history of working with our own special forces. Absolutely legit and his range-fire test videos are alway entertaining. True American !!!

Another terrific source of historical video/research is Ian McCollum's "Forgotten Weapons" . Very well spoken, succinct and to the point.
