They "hang-up" sometimes. I've had to use penetrating oil, whack them with mallets, etc. It WILL come off. This is not an uncommon phenomena.

 

Yup give it a tap or two.

 

Try holding the firing pin and spring up, and tapping the threaded end of the firing pin on a piece of wood.

The impact may loosen it up and the spring will push it off.

It works for me.

 

Thanks for the advice guys. The only thing I had available was some bore solvent. After letting it soak for a few hours gave it a few light taps with a small hammer and it came right off. Now it just needs to be cleaned and put back together..

 

The problem I have is I can't bet the bolt out of the receiver, the bolt stop doesn't come down far enough when the trigger is pulled. Any advise would be grateful.

 

Remove the rifle from the stock and then remove the trigger assembly. The bolt will then come right out. One pin holds the trigger assembly in place and it's very easy to remove in my experience. It's probably full of gunk prohibiting the bolt stop from dropping all the way down.
