Arsenal AK-74 SGL31-61 5.45x39. Just for giggles I thought I'd ask what you guys think one of these would go for right now...?? It's not that I neccessarily want to get rid of it, but there are dark clouds on the "ban" horizon here in the Socialist Peoples Republic of Maryland, and I have a crapload of very evil rifles that will almost certainly be on their list. Perhaps it's time to read the tea leaves and start thinning the herd a bit. The gun is literally pristine, only about 100 rds. of NC ammo have been put thru it, it's accurate and runs like a top. I would include several mags and a decent quality scope and mount with it.

After I posted this I took a gander at gunbroker just to see what others like this one were going for, there were a couple @ the $1100 mark with 2 days to go and upwards of 25 bidders in the running, so it wouldn't surprise me all that much if they finish at $1200. A couple others had starting bids of $900. This is a great little carbine and I really am very fond of it, but for $1200 I could be tempted.

I love my Sgl31-61. I don't think I'm ever going to sell it. I paid just a little more than 1k out the door for it at the local gun show which happened about a week or two before shootings and thought about banning guns came about. I would keep your rifle in my opinion.

Spaxspore - Just a random question, how are you liking that rear sight vs. the traditional sight that came with it?

Thanks for the opinions guys, I agree with all of you and I'm leaning towards keeping it, but I want to keep my options open. I also own basically the same gun (SGL21-61) in 7.62x39, I'm keeping that one for sure unless something really drastic happens. My logic for wanting to possibly sell the SGL31-61 is simple, I want to get a "special grade" Garand from CMP, and the funds from the Arsenal sale would pay for that, and leave me about half the cost of a complete AR-15 A2 upper in 5.45x39, and I own about 5 different lowers I can mount it on, and thus, I will still have a rifle in 5.45x39 cal. My concern about this plan is AR mag availability in 5.45x39, in the Peoples Republic I can't buy or order mags over 20 rds, so 30's are out. I'm told regular 20 rd. AR mags can be used if you don't put more than 5-10 rds. in, and I believe there are followers designed to allow use of the 5.45 in AR mags, but I'll be damned if I can find any. Anyhow, it's food for thought and thanks for the comments.

Why not just sell some of the uppers and get the special grade Garand from the CMP? Also, you won't be depressed with the Garand. I love my service grade special and you can beat the price of the 30-06 from them either. To me, special grade takes away some of the originality when they put a new barrel on it.

Put it on Gunbroker with a starting bid of $0.01 with no reserve and you will get the current market value for it when the auction closes. Why is this so difficult?
