If the buckle REALLY bothers you (it doesn't seem to bother me at all), just pull out the buckle until it dangles down below the bottom of the stock. Then, you only need to deal with the strap.

If it still bothers you, perhaps you can use a 'postal rubber band' (the big ones) to trap the buckle to the stock behind the sling hole.

Usually, I will just take a small piece of an old leather shoelace and pull it through the cross-hole in the sling slot in order to keep the cinched-up buckle from moving around.

I have FAR more issues with the 'wrist swivel' on my VZ24's. I am a 'stock crawler', and they give me a fat lip every time I shoot one.
