Who has experience in reworking a Bren machine gun magazine or a Lahti-Saloranta m/26 machine gun for a SVT rifle ?

No offense, but workbench forum might be more fitting for this sort of questions than collector's forum. No personal experience, but I just wanted to note that the photo is probably staged. The mag shown in it is Lahti-Saloranta m/26 and does not seem to be deep enough in the mag well for it to able to feed. Also Lahti-Saloranta magazine is bit wider than SVT mag and double stack with single feed, while SVT mags are double stack with double feed.

Experimental Soviet magazines for the rifle AVT-40. I mean magazines with 20 or more cartridges.

 

There were Vietnam bringbacks of reworked SVT-40's which used a modified Bren magazine. Initially it was thought that they were jungle workshop made; however, one dealer had his rifle at the Great Western show in the early 1990's. An older gent with a Hungarian or Czech accent saw it and told the dealer that in Europe after WWII he had helped rework some SVT-40's to accept a modified Bren mag. This gent accurately described the modifications to the dealer, so he came to believe that they were postwar European mods shipped to North Vietnam.

So it's not a military fairy tale that such a store for 20 or more rounds were .
I've heard such stories from old Russian officers who fought in Vietnam.

As for period custom mods I have somewhere pics of double mag with one welded on top of another.

 

The "Forest Brothers" had many interesting weapons, including enlarged magazines for SVT-40.
