I recently picked up a Santa Fe Jungle Carbine from gunbroker and I had some questions about it and I'll take any history/advice on the rifle I can get. I already know they just chopped up old no.4 and no.1 rifles but I'm having trouble figuring out what type of enfield mine was before the conversion. Also I'm not sure what the markings are so could someone educate me on those and why there seems to be a lack of them. In my opinion I think the converted jungle carbines are better than the no.5 mk1's. You don't have to worry about the wandering zero and it's cheaper. It's still a piece of history to me but other people say otherwise.

sold a few over the years to folks that wanted a jungle carbine when none could be found,
they never brought high $$, usually a basoc No 4 would sell for more
all were decent looking, and with that big banner on the barrel, no way to pass it off as original,
never did shoot one
