S&W Model 64-3 in .357 - double stamped numbers?

You obviously have a pistol that was incorrectly marked with a 38 model number, it was and is a shooter but holds no extra collector value unless someone would collect factory mistakes and then they would most certainly want the box, grips and other goodies inside.

Smith has not serialized barrels for over fifty years, the cost of a letter from Roy Jinks would far out cost any potential increased value of a mismarked pistol. The gun is a shooter take it out and enjoy it.

Looking at the photos the cylinder and barrel match for .357, as I recall from my S&W revolver school days the cylinder is longer and the barrel protrusion (forcing cone) shorter on the mag to accommodate the extra cartridge length. I am not at home or measuring my 64 and 66 models would confirm this. Some assembler used the wrong stamp on the frame, probably before his first cup of coffee.

If the dollar value is your consideration price them as you wish but be prepared to accept what a standard 64 or 65 is worth today with the flood of $259. police trade in’s that still abound.
