Morning All -
I'd appreciate any advice -
I purchased a S&W 64-3 in .357 back in the late 80's
Recently in conversations it has come up that S&W did not make a .357 in the model 64-3. So I contacted Smith directly and was told that indeed, based on the serial number I provided, I have a .38 spl - course the gun in my hands says S&W 357 magnum....
Added - I am the original and only owner - still have the receipt (which only states model number no caliber!) but unfortunately no box / manual
Took some close up pics of the crane / yoke and it shows 64-3 and maybe a production run number? That number has been stamped over. The Tech from Smith said it's possible that the factory did make an error and it is indeed a .357 (which would make it a unicorn)
Enclosed are pics of the firearm. I'd be grateful for suggestions advice or insight!
Thanks much
Michael
