I’m pretty sure it’s 4570 but I don’t know as I do not have a cartridge to put in it. I also believe it is a commercial variant because I do not see any military markings on it. I also find the wooden addition on the lower side of the buttstock to be interesting as I have not seen it on any other examples online. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t tell you anything about these, but a .45 ACP muzzle test might give you an idea of caliber?

Have an Army trials, but has been badly stored resulting in pitting on the barrel.
I gather they were issued with 2 magazines. It is in 45-70, inspector David F Clark.
Can never work out why the trapdoor was chosen, cost?

How’s the barrel?
Cleaned and illuminated, check for a slight bottleneck in the chamber. If present, it could be one of the 43 Spanish or Reformado chamberings.

Barrel is in unissued condition. Immaculate!

Nice Remington Lee, pistol grip is similar to those added to some Trapdoor target rifles.

Trapdoor was chosen originally to convert some of the many Civil War surplus muskets to breechloading and at lowest cost.

Looks like a very nice 45/70 Remington Lee, congrats
