I actually asked questions about this sword eons ago on this forum. I am trying to determine if this is a family blade or ‘just’ a factory blade. I can’t really get any better pictures than this right now because it’s still at my parents’ house 1200 miles away and my mom doesn’t like messing with it. I had the handle off the sword in 2017, but I didn’t take any pictures of the handle at the time. It isn’t a huge deal as far as info because I know the only really special thing about it is that my grandfather brought it back from Japan after the war along with quite a few other things. The only remaining things from what he brought back is what I assume is a Type 94 Shin Gunto, series 6 Arisaka and type 30 bayonet.
Bruce/anyone, does this look like it has a factory made blade? I know that based on the pictures I posted way back when, it was thought that due to the unfortunate fissures in the blade and possibly the sori possibly being a little steeper of a curve. There’s possibly a 2nd meguki, also.
I will likely need to get better pictures when I head back home to visit, but thought maybe I could get an idea based on the pictures I do have.
