Hi!
I recently bought a 1943 Izhevsk PU (waiting for it to be delivered). I know that usually Izhevsk barrels had a circle with a "C" in it to indicate a sniper barrel, but this particular example did not seem to have one (or if it did it was either very poorly stamped or had worn off).
Everything else about it seemed to check out:
- scope serial number matched the left shank of the barrel (sorry, forgot to save a photo from the ad, may post once I get the rifle)
- Zavod 237 NKV (Kazan) PU sight 1943, which generally doesn't get faked as far as I can tell since it's pretty uncommon (7% of total PU production)
- Kochetov mount with small Izhevsk triangle and large milling circles on the inner part, characteristic of Izhevsk snipers
- KT serial prefix, which is a known one used by Izhevsk for snipers according to M9130.info
It should be fairly safe to say this is an authentic despite the apparent lack of the "C" in circle mark, right?
(EDIT: Forgot to add a picture of the PU's markings)
