Any ideas of value on these? I may have found one, but the dealer was kinda a HUGE D!CK and didn't have time to answer my questions on whether it had a box or not. He said it did but he was too busy to talk and I was basically wasting his time. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I wanted to spit on him. Anyway, it was sure pretty, but bayo wasn't attached and rivet seemed to be installed. I am not going to spend the amount that he wanted without a bayo and accessories, but man, I wanted it. Rifle was beautiful and looked hardly used. So, to sum it up, HOW MUCH ?? Andy

Probably anywhere from $1800 to $2400 depending on condition, accessories, and whether some idiot is fishing for someone to hook for that high-end price. They're extremely high nowadays because of the panic and sellers trying to milk folks. Prices for the Polytech/Norinco pre-bans increased higher exponentially last year than during any of the earlier years. Look at all the sellers that suddenly dug-out their pre-bans and are milking them for everything they can on Gunbroker.

Definately check the rifle out thoroughly - assuming it's in a shop, it's probably used so that will help offset a little of the price. Or should, anyway. Look for side-to-side and up-and-down wobble in the folding buttstock both when folded in but especially when folded out. Also, look for how tight it locks into the extended position but the Chinese rifles will vary a little.

Look at the bolt and bolt carrier, and also down the barrel, to see what kind of condition they're in and if it shows signs of hard use. That can help to settle the price down a bit. Particularly if the wood is rough and the finish is missing in places.

If the bayo is missing it will cost ya!. The spike and collar bayo from Polytech is $90 plus shipping.
The folding stocks on Chinese AK's are typically pretty loose. They use only single sided locking lugs on the folder and no rear trunnion. Sweet rifles though and if the price is right and it speaks to you.:)

That's what I was thinking

I want it but I'm gonna hold off. Dickweed dealer and priced too high if no box and accy's. If he finds the box and still has it by the 21st in Dubuque, I'll grab it. I can't see him making a sale as I was more than patient and he had absolutely no time for me. After the $90.00 bayonet and scooping up Poly Mags, I'd be into it as much as if I bought it off Dumbbroker. I am not that desperate as to spend a fortune and not derive any pleasure from getting it for a good price. There's no fun in that. If however, it does have the box and all, I guess I'll have to wait a month or so to see... Wish me luck. Andy

Actually, don't worry too much about the bayonet issue. They can be found for $25 - I see them every once in a while for cheaper in boxes of junk at shows. I had a Chinese barrel assembly that was missing the bayonet and found one about two weeks later for $27. Should you decide to buy that rifle, I can point you the way to the bayonets.

I would buy all you can for that price. That is the blade/knife bayonet price.:) Though not as scarce as the bayo lug FSB assembly the underfolder bayos were always more pricey than $25 in my experience. May not count on finding a collared chinese underfolder bayo for that price too commonly. But that's only my observation. I found a whole FSB assembly with bayo cheap at one time. But that was pure luck and an ignorant seller.:)

$1300.00 plus tax. It'd be $1391.00 total. Less than a steal with no accessories.
Your nuts .Thats a good price .who realy gives a shit about a box and some cheap easy to find chinese accesories? Chinese accesories for the whole thing would cost about 20 bucks for a cleaning kit a sling and a gas tube poker. Bayonets are aesy to find . Theres not a ton of guns running around without bayonets ,guys sell them cheap because they have had them on their tables forever..I see them frequently .All 3 types .

i started my double under folder polytech in ex con. at 1599.oo with eight extra mags(three polys) and two drums, one a new in plastic romainion 75 rnder ,two a chinese 75 rnder in very good con with green carry case plus several small items. if it had brought that i would have been satisfied. it brought over 2500.oo and had seven bids. so i too think 1300.oo is a very good price. eastbank.

Yeah, you're right

I still can't swing it with my Liquor License coming up. That's about 3 grand I don't have. BTW, is the censor turned off on these forums now? It's a lot more fun to be able to write SHIT... I wish I had the money for the double UF, but it wasn't even getting looked except by me. I'll look for it next show. The thing was pretty nice and had a tight stock on it with very little play. I'd have to choke back the tears if I had to sell it to buy BS Insurance for Bootlegger's bc of this economy. Either that one or my L1A1. I'll redeem myself soon, don't worry. Andy

Not that good a great price IMHO.:) with possible missing bayo and no or unknown accessories. Though in the current frenzy all price stability is gone.
They are really nice rifles but not all that..., I prefer my Bulgarian AK74 over the Chinese type 56. Always easy for other people to spend your money though.
I have a Sile/Polytech I purchased a long time ago. Nice rifle but not really my favorite AKM. Glad that several folks think they are worth $1300 to $1800 though:)

It truly is sad these things have gone up in price the way they have. I'll admit, I bought a great many Polytech pre-bans many years ago and shortly after, deployed overseas and stayed deployed a lot which helped to never touch them. But they were bought at the $600-ish Polytech underfolding spike rifles and $700-$800 Polytech Legend prices which, no doubt, we'll never, ever, EVER see again. :(

Sorry,... I need a second... :(

OK, I'm better. Anyway, that price is not great but given the difficulty in finding a reasonably priced one, especially in a double-folder configuration, it may not be too bad. Many of us remember when the spike underfolding bayonet variants were quite cheap because many people didn't like that set-up. Now, the fad is that they're cool. Go figure.

Nope, I can't

You're not getting my AK, Vlad... I'll scoop it up next time around. I can find clips for it as I'll be keeping this one. It came around at bad timing as far as availability. I need to buy Liquor license and Insurance for one more glorious year in the bar business. I will use a 30-30 Marlin for trade fodder on this guy and see if I can chew him down a bit as far as price. Also, he wants a punch in the chops as much as to make a sale as far as his attitude is concerned so I have no compunctions against trading him some crap.

I know, I know

This is gonna turn into "the one that got away" on me. I shoulda just bought the damn thing. It would be nice to have one, but a real kick in the stones to have to sell it again right away in order to keep my business afloat... I am in the process of getting some small percentage of the customers I used to have back, but not enough to rely on that.(not to mention 3 employees to pay) To have that beast and then have to sell it, even at a tidy profit, would eat me alive. I will scoop the next one up I see as soon as finances straighten themselves out. Looter: All I expected was a few questions answered as far as he was the one saying he had the box. That wasn't the determining factor in this, but if you say you have it, let's see it. Yeah he was busy, but I think it was more "this guy don't have any money 'tude" that rubbed me the wrong way. I guess you just had to be there.

I would think your lively hood comes first. Ok, maybe I am jaded after Years in the gun racket and having owned at one time or another just about every diferrent AK imported from various nations. I Just cant take or understand 1500 and UP for semi auto AK's. I only have two AK's left, only one until last month when I grabbed a real nice Wasr with preban features for $450.00 and I just put a Romanian side folder on it. And, believe me, any Romanian AK with a sidefolder will be a Much better platform than any AK underfolder. Just my two cents.

Our economy is in real bad shape and I just cant see paying those Inflated prices for AK's . Wait. Soon you will see people dumping their AK's as the choice is between bread and guns.

Was it a milled or stamped receiver?

Seeing as this show was in my hometown, I've probably talked to the same guy before in previous years. Some of them can be a little off-putting toward us younger fellas (I'm right around the same age as you) but as always, money talks. You can't expect him to miss other sales just to dig around for a box.

I honestly would have a hard time putting down that kind of coin for a semi-auto AK variant. Last year, I scored a really nice SAR-1 for $365. It looks like it's never been shot, I can't remember if there was carbon on the gas piston when I field-stripped it for the first time or not.

I'm the same way

As far as spending that much loot. If only we were a bit older and could have bought some real hardware prior to 1986... I'd have a room full of FA and no need to worry about semis. Any AK for $365 would be nice for sure. It was a stamped receiver, another reason why I balked. If I'm spending that much, I want milled forgings. You are right about the older guys thinking we mustn't have any money or don't know anything. If I ask a question, I'm not trying to waste somebody's valuable time. Most times, if I think somethings too high, I just chuckle and keep on a walkin'. That really gets em mad.

Buy it and Ill trade you for a milled .Milled is realy over rated . The old guys talk that junk at the gunshows .You want negatives ? Remember that folder doesnt have a rear trunion either like other ak folders .And is angled instead of inline like most folders .And probably wobbles pretty good . And finding a bayonet is easy , but the pin that holds it on is missing ..thats another story .

This item is for someone that appreciates it .Sure you can get an AK for 400 . But its not a double folder chinese .For someone that collects Ak's or owns more than a few varients . its a need to have .And the price is very good . The only question about acccesories I dont understand is what accesories are so costly or hard to find ? Chinese ak accesories are freakin everywhere .I got tons I bought just so my butstocks all have cleaning kits . Chicom chest pouches ? I see them cheap as hell all the time ( hell a normal 10 year old is the only one small enough to fit the darn things anyhow). If the acessories are so valuable ,send me 150.00 and I will send you a full set . And that rifle will take standard ak mags .Dont have to be expensive comercial chinese mags . I will sell you chicom mags for 45 each ...LOL , remember there so valuable .
