It would help to know what manufacturer of P38 you are looking for grips for. Walther and Mauser grips changed as far as material and internal product markings. Grips manufactured for Spreewerk guns (generally after the first 20k pistols) were different both outside and inside than Walther or Mauser grips. There's a wide range of repro grips out there, so if that's what you're after, mine as well put the right ones on there.

Spreewerk SN #4.4K

These are reproductions of Posselt grips. Correct for any Spreewerk pistol starting in the later b-block to the end of production.

Posselt grips only had 5 broken lines around the grip screw, whereas all Walther/AEG/Mauser made grips had 6.

Thanks for your recommendation. Yesterday I actually bought these grips from NC Ordnance, the reviews were mix but for $45 I took a chance.

Did you ever buy anything from them, any comments about the quality of their products ?

NC Ordnance has been around a while. I've never bought anything from them, but again, it depends on what you want to do with these. They are certainly beter to shoot with than a 75 year old pair of originals. If you crack or break an original set of grips, there goes $150. These look decent enough from the outside and are correct in their overall appearance.

I found some awesome reproduction grips made by IVR2021. He uses bakelite and to me they look an feel just like the originals. He is based out of the Netherlands and uses some original equipment to create the grips. I made a YouTube video showing off the grips I picked up from him.

Those are impressive modern copies
It is really a game changer. They are more expensive that some of the other copies out of Eastern Europe. I have talked with the guy who makes them and he really cares about making something great. I was so disappointed with a the p38 I won in an auction and it really all came down to the poor quality Franzite grips on it. They didn’t fit right and felt totally cheap. It was a total accident I found IVR on EBay and I am sure glad I did. Now that p38 is one of my favorite guns in my collection. If you get any grips from IVR let me know what you think of them please.
