Low slung Irish holsters

Regarding those low slung holsters. I've seen similar types of leather flap-top holster with a leg strap used by officers in the Yeomanry cavalry in WW1. It is also possible that such a design was more comfortable when sitting, back of a truck or passenger seat of a motor car maybe. I have an example of the Yeomanry type in my own collection.
