Hello all,

I came across a deactivated type 96 LMG for sale locally. I have to admit I don’t know much about this weapon but what I’ve read on line.

Does anybody have a guess what these are worth? I’m assuming the bolt is welded to the receiver when they deactivated? I would love to a have a fully functional one but I wouldn’t want the price tag that goes with it.

I’ve attached a few photos... it’s missing the magazine. These are the only photos I have. Seller said arsenal stamps on the barrel and stock.

Looks very similar to the British Bren...

Thanks...

26Intrepid,
It is a trainer and is marked on the stock stating a training machine Gun. I do not know much about Training machine guns. I can also see the gas tube is not even connected to the receiver. I don't think it would fire. I am attaching an image of a active Receiver that fires on my Type 96 LMG. Yours is totally different. I checked Robert Segel's book "Handbook of Machine Guns Support Equipment and Accessories 1895-1945" and there was nothing on Japanese Training machine Guns. I hope someone that know about Training will comment on you posting. I would like to know also.

A trainer can be deacivated, so rushing out in panic mode may have cost the OP a good deal. His intiial post said it was deactivated and he was interested. He also posted that he knew it probably was a trainer. Now, he is not interested becasue it was a trainer? I dont see how the ATF position would be a deal breaker. Deactivaed is deactivated.

Today we are looking at a different example tacked onto a old post. Which is fine. But, I could not resist commenting on the original discussion.
