I recieved my Chinese SKS from Century today, its in the 24_______ serial # range (1958), all metal; parts in great shape but worn and all # match. The wood is heavily worn, has a crude multi nail repair on the heel of the butt. This one was clearly carried alot, as the area where buttstock sling would run on the stock is well worn, and where your hand would rest on the front of the stock, its worn to the point of almost feeling like finger grooves. Really glad I picked this up, metal caked with cosmo and worn, but the fact I can tell this was clearly a well used rifle which undoubtably saw some action someplace makes it worth having to me. So its it now established these came from the balkans?

 

why bother to post that info with no serial number its not going to help anyone.!!!!! Happy you got one though

A) I dont know who it is that you are referring to.

B) I doubt a Century employee (or someone contracting with them) is entitled to disclose source information without prior consent from Century. More likely the information is considered confidential just in case Century is working on more deals with the same source. If that source was disclosed (even a detailed story about these SKSs) it wouldn't take a competitor too much thought to figure out where they came from and try to undercut Century in the negotiations.

C) Unless you are that guy and are willing to spill the beans, which is fine with me.

We've recently had Albanian-marked Chinese 7.62x54R imported to Canada, by Marstar, I believe.

While it may have nothing to do with the C&R SKSs, it does prove that at least surplus ammo is leaving that part of the world via Albania at some point in it's travels.

 

Two more serial numbers for Howie's list 2376395 and 2379698, the former in what appears to be a "cut down" Albanian stock, with side sling swivel, and large cutout under the buttplace with 2 holes for storage. Both are marked with the triangle 26 after the serial number.

Best I can tell by this info, there have been NO consecutive numbered guns found? Did the chinese not number them consecutively maybe? something to think about....

 

you will have to be patient, They were all consecutive marked until a series was completed then they started over. You will already see the numbers are getting closer. When you think of the thousands made you realize with how these guns were issued out and then recovered it will take awhile but someone will come up with one sooner or later.
