When Nasser took power in 1952, he turned to the Warsaw-Pact nations for support. I suppose the weapons could have come from many different Com-Bloc nations. I have not personally seen an ‘Egyptian used’ SKS or Mosin, but here is a thread on a M-44 that I remember.

Here are a few pictures of Israeli soldiers with a war trophy of Anwar el-Sadat and a SKS. They were taken during the October War of 1973. The SKS appears to have a Russian laminated stock.

I just happen to pick up an Egyptian used SKS today. This particular one was made in China. Also, a few Tulsa shows ago, Vic had an Egyptan used SKS for sale that was made in Russia. It did have a laminate stock IIRC. As far as the M44, I have an M44 that was sold to me as Syrian, although the guy who sold it to me was not 100% sure. It was though used in the Middle East as it has Arabic markings on the buttstock. That rifle was made in Hungary. I have another M44 with some kind of crazy marking that appears to be of Middle Eastern origin that was also made in Hungary.
