I just bought a Brazilian 1908/34 Carbine the other day, made by CZ. It was somewhat of an inpulse buy, and I think i over paid a bit for it ($350), although I kinda knew I was at the time. I really wanted it and it was on consignment at a shop for a guy who wouldn't budge on the price, so the story goes... Either way, this rifle doesn't look like it has ever been fired and the only thing really wrong with it was that at some point the front sight guard on the left side had been snapped off. No big deal. At any rate, the next day I took it out to my little shooting spot in the desert and let a couple fly. It is hands down the most accurate military style Mauser I have ever shot. I have or have owned two German K98's, a Turk, a commercially made 98 chambered in 7mm amd I've fire several other Mausers throughout the years. It also outshoots my No. 1 Mk 3 Enfield that has a razor sharp bore and it is not much less accurate than my Ruger M77 in 6.5 Swede. I was shocked at how spot on this rifle is. I put my first five rounds at about fifty yards into a 2" group standing up and in a hurry (I was due to help my in-laws with something but couldn't wait to try out my new toy). After that, I took various shots ranging from 100 to 200 yards, with very good results. Like I said, this rifle appears like it has never been shot: wood is near perfect and all of the what appears to be parkerization is 100% present. The action is buttery smooth and the trigger is crisp. The whole point of this is to ask the question, where is all the info on these rifles? I've been looking for the last couple days, but any real good info is few a far between. Also, I cant find a real large following for these rifles. Various other Mausers have a very strong fan base with each claiming that their Mauser is the best, not so with this little Brazilian. It's a short, handy, handsome rifle that is a tack driver by surplus military standards. Anyone else have a similar experience? Am I the only one that feels like this might be my favorite MilSurp rifle?
