Hi guys, I just bought a nice M1917 Eddystone, and I was wondering what type of cleaning kit it was originally issued with. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The cleaning kit issued with the M1917 thru out its’ service life was the Oiler and Thong Case, These were the same as used with the M1903and M1. The Cases issued during WWI would be made of brass, sandblasted and nickeled. At the start of WWII these same version would have been issued, then later the plastic type would have/could have been issued

Gunman, thanks for the reply, if you send me your contact info, I'd like to purchase the kit, thank you.
Go for a brass one, for the few extra dollars. I've had the plastic caps on the WW2 ones crack from the recoil every now and then. The brass ones are really more correct for a 1917 rifle anyway. The storage compartment end should contain a pull-through and a bore brush.

to expand on this recomendation which i agree whole heartedly with , these are nickle plated brass - thus the silver coloring of the one i show in the second photo ,

these are the wwI version and in my oppinion most correct for the WWI produced rifles but of coarse there may have been plastic versions in wwII issue rifles ,

agree again , not sure when the plastic ones first showed up on the scene , but i think it was into the wwII era ,

there was a period of time in and just before wwI that there was a wooden parts gizzmo issued in some rifles , i think i read once possibly every other one was fitted with parts and IIRC the trap area was cut to clear the protruding bit of the cocking peice , so those could only be suplied with rifles of that era ,
