I recently bought a new Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special and wanted to share my experience. I knew going in they are not manufactured to the same quality level as a classic Colt Python š. I loaded up with my tried and true reload using new brass and Hornady XTP's. After 10 rounds I pulled the hammer back to single action and it completely locked up solid. No amount of pressure anywhere would free it up. Here I was with a fully loaded cylinder wondering what to do next. I decided to remove the grips and pulled the hammer spring. After pressing the hammer back and forth it released. The issue was the single action sear. After unloading and reassembling I found the trigger would still stick but could be released by pushing forward (hard). Eventually after at least 100 cycles everything smoothed out. After a complete cleaning found everything is working great. The single action breaks at 2.5 pounds after a very tiny creep. Very happy with it now but would not consider this Charter Arms a carry gun until it earns my trust. It's not the first time I completed the quality control and final assembly after purchase.
