Carcano Cavalry M91 accuracy?

I recently picked up a Carcano Cavalry M91 from PSA and took it to the range today. I was shooting PPU 123 grain soft points at 50 yards and couldn't even hit the paper. Moved to a 25 yard target and again was not even on the paper. The gun shows a lot of wear but the bore and crown look good. Ammo feeds fine and the clips drop out as intended. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Which bullets are you using, .264's or .268's? With .264's I can expect two shots to go towards opposite ends of the paper at 25y. With .268's this was a group at 50y. Shooting it out to 100 is still a challenge for me. The .268 fmj's perform much better than .268 sp's for me.

Also this is how the sights were designed to be used.

They will shot very high . Mine need a very tall front sight to hit where aimed . Try using a very large target to find out where it is hitting . If the bullets holes are round and close together there is nothing wrong with the gun . Put some soft clay on the front sight to make it higher to hit where you want then you can do something more durable later .

Another Interesting video by someone who did not know what he is doing . Poor info and little knowledge of reloading . After test firing many different load combinations through 22 different Carcanos my results show everything he did is wrong . The Italians DID change their bore size and rifling type in later rifles . One of my M-91 Cav carbines is one of my most accurate of the group . With the right load the Hornady 160 .264 bullet shoots fine . But then again I tried about 20 different powders , velocities and bullet . The PPU bullets also did well . I shot all my 5-shot groups at 100 yards as 50 yard groups are useless . Since 100 yard groups are a minimum of 3x the 50 yard groups and 5 shot groups are double in size of 3 shot , he was shooting was really bad [ a real world 12 inch + 100 yard group ] . All my Carcanos ran from 2.5 to 4 inch 100 yard group averages with good loads . And yes there is a way to make the Hornady solid base bullets a hollow base , just run them into a .266 bullet making mold backwards .
