I have this gun my Father has left me and I'm looking for any and all information I can get. I possibly might want to part with it not totally sure as yet.

Was dad a collector? Tell us more please. Where did he get it? Do not let it go until you do more research on worth.
I suspect you will start receiving messages from forum members. Don't be too quick to settle on any offers.
No dad wasn't a collector. I'm not sure exactly where it came from I always assumed a war relic brought home.

Before you let your expectations go through the roof get someone who actually knows something about the pistols to look it over in person and tell you what the story is. There were quite a few Borschardt pistols built and sold and cased sets are not super common but they're not that rare. The guns that sold recently for huge money were special pieces that were presentation or prototypes. There are a lot of variations just like Lugers and coins. Some are more special than others. Typical C93 pistols in matching condition with their shoulder stock and maybe a spare mag will sell for about $15-20K. Its not chump change by any means but you can't buy a house in most of the US for that....maybe detroit but the question is why. The case may add a decent amount or it may be a new made case and there are repro accessory bits that were done up for these pistols. If you decide you really want to sell it get a good appraisal from a reputable person. There aren't many around for those pistols but there are some. The auction houses aren't really a good source, they're trying to get you to sell through them and they make quite a bit from both seller and buyer and may price it high just to get your consignment. Of course even though the auctions frequently bring more than market on some things most of it goes for market or below.

Good luck and it is a nice piece and worth keeping. They're really fun to shoot too.

I'd take this and post it on Jan Still's Lugerforums site. Ask for a reference for an expert who is willing to provide an appraisal. Expect to pay for it but it'll be the best investment you can make. Agree with amafrank, you're looking at something in the $20K range on average. Makes it worth the effort to do a bit of research.

Remember that an appraisal for insurance isn’t necessarily going to be an accurate estimate of realistic auction value, too. So if you get a professional appraisal be sure to spell out what kind of value you’re looking for (ideally a formal one for insurance and an informal assessment of what you’d hope to get for it) and even so, many appraisals are sky high. Which makes you feel better about paying the appraiser’s fee and works out decently if your house burns down but doesn’t otherwise do you any favors.

It wasn't just the removable magazine, the cartridge, 7.62x25 Borchardt is the ancestor to many other cartridges
7.63x25mm Mauser
7.65x21mm Parabellum (.30 Luger)
7.62x25mm Tokarev
9x25mm Mauser (9mm Mauser Export)
9x19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger)
9x19mm Glisenti
9Ă—21mm
9Ă—18mm Ultra
9Ă—18mm Makarov

one note, avoid the risk of mixing similar ammo together
7.62 Borchardt, 7.63 Mauser & 7.62 Tokarev are each progressively stronger than the last, and the Borchardt toggle is already weak enough as is. If you decide to take it to the range make sure you have the right ammo.

Though I do keep my 7.63 Mauser & 7.62 Tokarev separate it depends on who manufactured the Tokarev ammo. Generally the Mauser is slightly hotter originally. I was always told stay away from pink wrapper Tokarev for any pistol.

Very nice, too bad you couldn't get the story behind it. Do you have a good place to store it? Definitely worth investing in something to keep the humidity out if you live in an area where that's a concern. I'm also curious about that wooden piece next to the right of the magazines, any idea what that is?

Bob W.W., You have an exceptional set in excellent condition. Please seek the advice of Ron Wood on Jan Still's luger forum. He is the most knowledgeable person I know on the topic of the Borchart pistol. I think the majority of estimates that have been provided here are very conservative. Regards,
