May be that after several dry fires with empty chamber, the chamber is slghty dented (the pin is massive for a .22), or there is a dent inside the chamber. Does the body of the case show scratches once extracted?

 

Thanks for the reply inspecting one of the cases I noticed a few things. The first being a possible burr opposite the firing pin in the chamber (see picture 2) that dent is on the opposite side of the firing pin. Second thing I noticed. The case itself feels a bit flared out compared to a normal 22LR. Maybe that normal and I don’t inspect my empty 22 brass enough. The 3rd thing I notice is that there is scratches from the chamber all the way around about half way up the brass.

 

I had the same problem with my.22 caliber Carcano. I tried some.22 short ammunition and the problem went away. It may be the Pressures of modern.22LR is the problem.

 

I was wondering if modern 22LR pressure is the problem. I will still check for burrs in the chamber as well

 

You need to have the chamber & rim swaged by a gunsmith to take any irregularities out of it. Simple task with the right tool.
