Beretta Model 70 Date of Manufacture question

I need to find out if a Beretta Model 70 that a friend has offered me was manufactured before 1968 (That is, is it C&R qualified?).

He's out of the country for a while and can't get to the gun to tell me what features it has, or if it has a date code or DOM stamped on the slide or frame as some do--he just has the serial number with him.

The serial is 8933. He says that he doesn't remember any suffix on the model number, so it isn't a 70S. Caliber is 7.65mm/.32 ACP.

Any help with dating this or a source I could refer to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Unfortunately I can't examine the gun to see those features; need a list of years/serials if possible. Did the Model 70S version begin in 1968? I'd always assumed that it was in response to import restrictions imposed by GCA '68, but don't know that for sure.

Is there a list of serials/years in Wilson's Beretta book?
