Any information would be appreciated.
Just picked up this Type 38 Carbine at a gun show and this is what I know so far.

Type 38 Carbine (matching bolt, dust cover, receiver). metal in good shape, stock is a bit rough. Functions well and cycles nicely at the range. 5/10 rounds on 12 inch target at 100 yards (First time out).

Nagoya Arsenal
Series 4
6.5 mm

Manufacture Date Range: ?

Are there any other parts to check for matching serial number?

If need for other photos?

This carbine was manufactured in approximately April 1940 according to the projection that I did as part of the Type 38 Arisaka book project.

The matching system within this series was originally very extensive but loosened up by the time this carbine was made. The last three digits of the serial number were stamped on the bolt, safety, dust cover, front barrel band, and floorplate. The trigger and the extractor were not numbered.

Also, there should be an arsenal marking ahead of the last three digits stamped on the dust cover: it would be the "Chigusa" symbol on your carbine. You will need to search a reference source to see what this symbol looks like.

here are a few more photos;

matching barrel band,

floor plate had 6 or 9 on the inside with a proof stamp.

safety with a proof stamp

dust cover doesn’t appear to have the arsenal stamp, unless that mark in the photo is it

on the forend, up by the barrel band, there appears to be a stamp; not sure though
