I want to bust or reaffirm what I believe to be a myth . That sheet metal receivers somehow effect accuracy or milled receivers are more accurate . When I speak of accuracy I am leaving out the shooter,cheek weld ,and all the other factors other than bullet leaving barrel. If we look at the ak design ,I beleive that the receiver acts as a guide and only a guide for the action of chambering a round and extracting a round by the bolt-bolt carrier.the actual lock up is handled by the barrel ,barrel pin , front trunion and bolt. Those are the only parts that have any place in the bullet leaving the barrel .In the moment the pin strikes the primer ,the receiver is just hanging out, waiting to guide the bolt carrier in its travel for extraction and striping another round. If the receiver effects accuracy would it also not be correct to assume that not fully heat treated receivers ,like flat made or Ohio ordnance works receivers are either more or less accurate because of their soft metal?
IMHO. The reciver ,be it milled or stamped sheet metal . Has no effect on accuracy. The milled receiver will be no better or worse. Its existance is only to guide the bolt and bolt carrier ant take part in the feeding and extraction of the rounds. the trunion handles the lockup.
I am looking for more than oppinions here ,I am looking for specifics ,For members to tell what they think and why. Remember we are adressing a rifle strapped down to a bench ,with no effects other than the ak desingned action.
