A weakness for Berettas

Early this Summer I bought one of the Beretta 84 BB pistols that have saturated the market over the past few months. What I got was in great condition, very little finish wear, new looking internals. It is just a really nice firearm. This batch apparently came from the Italian equivilent of the IRS. For the sake of expedincy, lets not discuss whether .380 modern ammo is sufficient for self defense so as not to flood a thread. I think that it is, some folks think that it isn't. Fair enough.

I have shot the snot out of the Cheetah since I got it, and I have full confidence it its function. The pistol feeds hollowpoints like it was made for them. Thirteen round magazines are sufficient for self defense purposess. (In my opinion). While it is certainly not a pocket pistol, I am a holster only kind of carrier, and it conceals very easily. I have been so impresssed with this pistol, that when I saw them on sale at one of the big on-line dealers, I have bit again this morning. $320.00 shipped, $35.00 for the FFL to receive will buy a more "modern" plastic micro .380, but they don't come with the asthetics and history of the Beretta.

I have been surprised that the current batch has lasted on the shelves long enough to be discounted. What am I missing?

I intend to make me a double shoulder holster rig like the one on Last Man Standing and I will be ready to take on the bootlegger gangs in South Texas! ;)

I haven’t tried their smaller pistols, but I love my 92’s. I have an old school 92G Vertec, and 92X, and a 92 XI SAO. I also love my PX4 Storm…the lowest recoiling pistol I own.

Id find it hard to go wrong with a Beretta!

I’ve been looking at those 380 $299 berettas. I found a .32 version at $299 and grabbed that instead. Extremely nice shooter!! Sights dead on at 35 yards. Light recoil

I think there’s probably excessive amount of the current 380s that came in. Price is fine but most want a small pocket gun when they buy a 380. Not a mid size gun with the same capacity

I’m looking for an old tip up 380 beretta. But prices are too nutty imo

True, recreational shooting is a 9mm world these days. Most prefer .380 strictly for CCW, or they like the lower recoil (but want a modern locked breech design to maximize the recoil reduction.)

I know Beretta makes a .32 tipup, was not aware they did a .380. The tomcat .32 has a very checkered reputation. I love the looks and the idea but I don’t like a gun that cracks its slide with anemic .32acp loads.

Beretta 70S .380 ACP. It's basically a modernized M34/35 and remains single action. I got one around 1980 and very stupidly traded it for an Interarms Walther PPK/S (made in Alabama) and regretted that blunder for many years. But a couple years ago I found a minty used 70S at an attractive price and immediately grabbed it. The only thing I didn't like was the thumb rest left grip. This was added to meet import requirements, and made the grip uncomfortable and jammed my thumb up against the safety. (Note: some 70S models had the Beretta cross button safety, but mine has a traditional lever.) I found some nicely made walnut grips without the thumb rest and with it the pistol is now a favorite.
