A 1901 LE 1 AG Barker Short Lee CONT 1905 Early Pattern 22 Trainer

Long time ago, I had found an early pattern Enfield in 303, but Bubba had gotten a hold of it before me. Due to not having much finances at the time I ended up selling it, but always looked for another and I thought I had found it when I purchased this rifle Only to realize it was a 22 trainer. Like all the other rifles I don’t know much about this collection and I am trying to learn as much as I can so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. One thing I’m not sure I understand is why there are two markings and dates on either side of the Butt stock socket.
Is that some type of conversion date or re-issue thank you. There is a number 22 on the magazine and there is no follower so it’s just a big empty shell to hold all these spent 22 cases I imagine.

You certainly fell into a bed of roses with this collection, another rare model.


.22 SHORT RIFLE MK III
Approved 9th August 1912 (LoC 16291) for Land Service, this rifle was made up from Converted Mk II and Mk II* SMLE rifles (which were themselves either "long" Lee-Metford or "long" Lee-Enfields converted to "short" Lees). About 11,000 conversions were done by BSA, LSA and RSAF Enfield.

It was manufactured in 1901 as a LE 1*
It was converted to a SHTLE COND II in 1905 (Cond = conversion)

It was, at some time in its life, apparently down graded to DP. (Drill Purpose only - no live firing)

It was later converted to a .22 rifle by AG Parker (Alfred Parker- NOT Parker Hale)

Can you show us a pic of the left receiver ring?

Note that, in addition to the DP marking on the buttstock, there is also an Australian property mark.

That’s cool about the Australian thing. It’ll be a little bit before I can pull it out of the safe again although I did buy socks for everything and need to do that soon. I will try to remember to get a picture of the left side of the receiver ring for you.
