I am looking at finally loading up some rounds to test fire my 1886 Portuguese Kropatschek rifles. Can anyone recommend an over all length? Finding loading information on this odd ball caliber is a chore. I have some 348 Winchester converted brass that our own memeber lmg sells. And have some 210 grain .329 cast bullets. Just wondering what my seating depth is or a general estimate. I'll be seating the bullets with a Lee 8mm Lebel die set, as I don't have a Kropat specific die. Is there even such a thing? I'd imagine they be near impossible to find if they even exist, probably long out of production and limited runs if anyone made them.
I enjoy the challange of these old old calibers, very rewarding to get one up and shooting again. Anyone can buy 7.62x54R etc and blast away. The looks you put on folks faces with an 1886 tube fed, forgotten by most, Portuguese issued , Austrian produced antique....yeah worth every penny, I can't wait.
