I bought this rifle recently from a friend, it's a 32 cal lever action. I dis-assembled the lever action part to clean it, the entire lever unit comes out by taking 2 screws out, after cleaning, I have been unable to get the ejector back in so it works properly. I have tried so many times that I've reached a point that i'm frustrated. Can anyone help with info on re-assembling the ejector? I've heard there's a book out by Dehaas and in reseaching find he has 2 books, now the problem is which one covers this rifle?

Digging through my books the only thing I came up with was on the pre-1915 .22 models in The Gun Digest Sporting Rifle Take Down & Reassembly Guide (J. B. Wood). It does mention "The ejector on the later model guns is different from the one shown. On the post 1915 guns, it has a front lobe which contains a plunger and spring, the plunger bearing on the breechblock pivot. The plunger is staked in place, and removal in routine disassembly is not advisable."

Relevent scans attached. Probably different for the .32 version, but if you PM or email me, I'll email you the full sized copies.

its a pain to get that screw in because the ejector pushes against it. what I do is get a screwdriver and insert it from the threaded side of the reciever and apply pressure to the elector spring so I can get the screw in to half way then I take the screw driver out and wind/push the screw as far in as I can get it . then carefuly operate the lever and the screw will line up with the hole. when that happens if I am lucky I can get the screw in on the first try.

1915 stevens

Does anyone know someone who does work on this model rifle? I have reached a point where I will send my rifle to a person familiar with this model. I did notice this morning that there is no spring inside any where and I did read where some models did not have one.
