Not debating collectibility vs. bring back K98s...

Any thought on which would be a better sell or better to hold on to... Yugo K98 built up from a 1918 Gew98, matching main components with rod and exc bore, or a RC S/27 1938 with VG+ bore? I need to thin the herd.

I'd love to post pics but can't at the moment.

Any input appreciated.

I am biased, but I believe the Yugoslav refurbs are the real sleepers right now. I just don't see the quickly rising prices on Soviet-capture K98k rifles lasting all that long. The Yugoslavs did a much nicer job with their refurbs, and most have new/like new barrels. The fact that yours has a Gew.98 receiver is great, as many are simply marked 'Mod.98' with little if anything else to distinguish them. The Yugoslav K98 rifles now have a loyal following, and sub-variants are now recognized as collector's targets.

I hope this helps,
Pat

Although I love the Yugoslav rifles much more, the reason an RC is worth more now is the same reason it will be worth more later..The receiver code being intact

I'm sending you a PM on the Yugo..alerting in public as it seems swarmy to say its less collectible and then PM an offer..but hey just cuz poot and I know there better doesnt mean the rest of the market agrees

The Yugos on average shoot better than the RC's that I have had. Many seem to have new Yugo barrels on them. But, the R.C. just like any other WW2 German stuff always goes for more money. Even an R.C. w/ a rough bore w/ a nice Nazi firing proof, like you see on BYF and ar K98's will always sell for more than even real pretty Yugos. This from me working gun shows for mucho moons.

Eli,

Bottom line is the RC will increase in value faster than the Yugo reworks. Interest is growing in the Yugo original mausers and their specialty of reworking the k98 (and others) in general. Value will increase slower with the yugo's....

IMO, If your goal is to get most money, sell the RC. If you want keep the rifle that will increase in value, sell the yugo. That being said... I have growing collection of yugo firearms. Various 48 and their export versions marked by other countries, reworked k98s and sks's...
My k98's overall have more value. But the interest for various versions and getting reworks from different factories and years is growing.

To increase the potential sale, if you sell it online. Use as many detailed Clear pictures and description as you can get...

Good Luck...
