i guess i will stop getting them out like that, but it is so much easier to get them out and take one at a time and clean it and put it back in the gun room and get another one and repete untill all are cleaned and put back. in my gun room they do not touch each other, but are close together. it,s a small room with only the door(reinforced steel) to enter from,no windows, and a small dehumidifier that runs year round. i have never had a problem from rust. eastbank.

Speaking of Springfield M1922/M2s, after some looking, I picked up one about two months ago. I was looking for a shooter (a "grandson" gun, so to speak) and got this one for $800. It is a mixmaster with a 1942 barrel and was a M1922 which was modified - apparently a M1922 MII, so my knowledgeable sources tell me. As you can see, the stock was partially sporterized.

However, there was a "part 2" to the story. A few weeks ago, I happened on a guy who had a M1903A3 mounted on a M1922 stock. I bought it from him and can probably sell the M1903A3 on another stock for about what I paid for the M1903A3 PLUS maybe sell the sporterized stock for something. Making the "new" M1922 stock (with correct lower band) "FREE"!!:D

I LIKE deals like that!! It even came with a decent unmarked military type M1907 sling which I'll probably leave on it.

Pics of the rifle in the new, correct stock:

What was REALLY ironic is that I came across an M2 stock in a bunch of parts I picked up and was selling. I sold the stock just before I picked up the rifle. In fact, I brought home the rifle as I took the stock to the post office for mailing. Glad to find another one.
