I saw one of the threads below was discussing postwar Nagant holsters. I didn't want to hijack that, so here is my question. Does anyone have any images of holsters and belts from the Great patriotic War? Were they leather, canvas, or both? Any info would be appreciated.

I did 2 huge posts on the Nagant holsters, unfortunately all the pictures were lost in a software upgrade by Gunboards. What specifically are you looking for?
Holsters from the first part of the war are leather and based on the pattern 1932 holster. Universals (for Tokarev or Nagant) were leather in the 1930s and quickly became substitute materials as the war started.
There were also varieties for troops who had to sit on duty - pilots, tank crews, drivers etc. They used suspension holsters that hang down from a belt.
I'll reduce some images to the size nec to post and put them up for you. (I'm working on my Korovin pages at RussianRevolvers.com right now.)

Here is part of my Nagant holster collection.

This will not be organized, just examples:

A 1942 dated Universal made of Ersatz material

Another universal with a shoulder strap

Same type without the strap

Leather 1943 with shoulder strap. These are usually seen with the strap missing.

Complete officer's rig

Suspension holsters:

A 1927 Suspension holster. Notice the lanyard

A pair of Nagant suspension holsters. The Tokarev version has a single clip pouch rather than the twin revolver cartridge pouches.

A pilot with a suspension holster

A postwar (1955) suspension rig. Note the clip type lanyard.

Thanks for posting the holster pics. I've always been interested in the accoutrements as well as the weapons themselves, so I was interested in seeing what was used. I'd prefer a leather holster myself rather than naugahide. Does anyone make a repro leather military holster for the Nagant? (would've responded sooner, but was distracted by my garage burning to the ground... :-( )

There were some post war Universals made in E. Germany but these tend to be expensive. The Nagant is the same size as most European service revolvers of the period and anything that fits that genre will work. One caveat - the cartridges are longer than normal and won't fit in the ammo pouches of other revolver holsters.
