Hello Fellow collectors.

Doing a little research on the VZ58 bayonet subject and have a few questions.

You can find two variations of rivets on the wooden grip bayonet.
Is there an explanation for this?
I read somewhere the bayonet at the top with the flat rivets is an early example.
Can this be confirmed or is there another explanation?

All information about these bayonets is welcome.

It makes sense, that the flat rivet would be earlier. More time consuming to mfg. Especially, if a "cutlery rivet" with a male, and female part. The lower, is a simple, "Pin & washer" design. Just needs wire, and washers.

Yes its really the top bayonet with rivet with flat top was made to 1960/1 period.

Which period is the other one then? I have seen them in 1967 scabbards but that will be too late i think?

I know that site for a very long time. It,s very nice with a lot of information on it.
But it has no answer on my question unfortunatly.

I am busy to collect all the information that i can about this neat bayonet.
I already made a topic on the bajonet.be forum where i collect all the information that i know.

I personally dont believe the mentioned scabbard is slovak, is more possible czech post 1993, the second type of rivets was used probably same time as to replacing wood grips with plastic. The first type rivet was removed in late 1960.

The scabbard looks a bit fragile. Looks more like a commercial piece to me.

I know about a official czech camo pattern scabbard, is possible that similar was added in slovakia later as in czech republic. Mainly was similar used on various campains like Bosna, Irak or Afghanistan.

Can you get a picture of soldiers wearing the scabbard and is the scabbard also made in desert camo?
Modern czech an slovak soldiers are hardly seen with bayonets.

I only found one picture of i believe slovak Cyprus mission with leather scabbard bayonets, the Czech army has immediately changed Vz.58 to CZ805 Bren A1 system.
