Hi guys,
A friend of mine has this Win '94. Is it a variant or did someone bob the lower tube and add a new front sight? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & best regards,
Len

You are correct in your assesment of this carbine. While Winchester did produce 1/2 magazine carbines this is not one of them . The cut and hole on the underside of the barrel is evident of this. Also this is not a Winchester manufactured front sight. Also while the buttstock is Winchester manufacture is of a different era than the serial numbered reciever was built with.
Good morning
And the barrel was wacked off some. You can come across many 94´s that were cutomised to the owners wim... and if they are done right the 94 is as realiable as factory new. Personally I have never needed a follow up shot on deer. But I also hunt river bottoms and last deer I shot with a firearm was 12 yards away. Why haul around the extra ammo. Plus shorter mags are a help in accuracy.
Also this is not a Winchester manufactured front sight.
Are you sure? His front sight looks exactly the same as the one on my 1949 M94.

It APPEARS to be incorrect, however the sight photo are not detailed enough to get a definate opinion.
