The market place in my small world is literally non-existent. I haven't seen a real nice Enfield rifle on GB, AA or GA for a long long time. Am I hallucinating? Seems to me that the well has gone dry. Regards, Rick.

I agree. Six years ago I would see them a lot and would be picky with which ones I wanted. But in the past 2 years, in my LGS's, I have only come across 1 all matching LB No.4 at $325 and that was last week. The last really nice complete matching No. 1 I picked up 4 years ago for $125. I have not seen a complete No. 1 since then and I am sure I will never see it at that price again. I guess they are all where mine are... packed away in a gun safe.

PS.... if anyone is interested in that LB PM me and I will send you the link for their website where there are pictures. The guy has only been open a year and are good people I would not mind helping them out.

Well, I don't see many really prime time No.4 either these days but last year, a really choice 1943 correct
No4MkI* all matching Long Branch with NZ marked stock was on the Trader but all the purists
turned their noses up on it. It had a big 4 painted on the butt stock and there must have been
30 folks view it and dismiss it. The price was $250 and I was on it like a tick.

Shooting on the 300 yd and 600 yd line 3 weeks ago, that rifle was performing big time. Just a
great rifle in condition, accuracy and hopelessly flawed with a 4 painted on the butt stock.

I thank all the purists on the boards for being slow on the draw !!!

A lot of these high grade LE's are no doubt languishing in gun safes all around the world. They will surface as time goes on. My other hobby is coin collecting high grade pieces and the same can be said about those. Where have all the high grade coins gone?

There's always the UF 55 No4 Mk2 rifles.

In general, I'm seeing less of everything for sale now than when I started in the milsurp hobby a year and a half ago. Seems like folks are holding on to what they've got. But I don't have a real long perspective on these things yet so maybe I'm off base.

Hey, I resemble that remark! ;)

I'm about as pure as they come, and original painted unit markings, rack numbers and the like don't bother me a bit.

Well, a lot of Enfields fell into Bubba's hands, back when they were cheap. The rest went to folks like us who hung on to them and realized they were going to become more expensive. The supply isn't infinite, after all.

I think that some of us, in the current economic situation may have been shedding our culls while holding onto our best, not out of distress but because the buyers are looking for an opportunity to buy cheap and they are getting cheap. Truly valuable arms will not be dumped on the market unless there is a huge recession.

Where have they gone? Well, a bunch are in my walk-in closet and I suspect other enfield collectors also have quite a lot of them. Got a number of mine from a few good funerals when the kids wanted the money and not the guns. I plan on taking mine with me or I WON'T GO!

One of my local gun shops has about 10 of them from one guy's collection. Nine No. 4s and one No. 1 grenade launcher. They're all $100 more than they're worth. I snagged a No.1 Mark III* from that same shop, $200. That was being sold on consignment from someone else.
